Let's meet at Miyagase!

Me: Hey! Wanna go for a ride today?

Buddy: Sure! Where should we meet?

Me: I’ll be at Miyagase at 9:30!

Buddy: Ok! I’ll be there!!!

Miyagase Lake was formed by Miyagase Dam. Construction started in 1971 and ended in 2000. There is a farmers Market with a nice large parking lot at the side of the lake. I am not sure when the farmers market opened or when it became popular but I knew it was a popular place to ride motorcycles for at least the last 5 years. There are a lot of winding roads and beautiful views when you ride around the area around the lake.

The farmers market is not always open but the parking lot is open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm. There are public toilets and vending machines. Bring cash! The machines do not (as of writing this) accept any cashless payments. As far as I know, the farmers market also only accepts cash. I will check next time I go.

The market sells some local fruits and vegetables as well as some crafts.

There are some beautiful scenic views. You can walk down the steps and get a nice view of the water and the mountains around the area. I have stretched my legs and relaxed with a coffee down there a bunch. I think it is a good to to chill and wait for someone or just enjoy being surrounded by nature.

Weekends are best.

There’s usually a steady flow during the week but it is busier on weekends.

The motorcycle riders I have met here seem to be very friendly and are willing to chat about bikes and other subjects. If you are planning to go for a longer ride, it’s a great spot to meet up and use as a launch point for a bigger trip.

I like to stop here just before or after riding Yabitsu Touge!

If you have been there, please leave a comment below and let me know about your experiences there!
